Two West Michigan Women Rescued From California Wildfire

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Two West Michigan women were among the dozens of people who were airlifted from a national forest in California after getting surrounded by a wildfire.

Jean Reynolds of Grand Haven and Kathy Schipper of Spring Lake were rescued Tuesday.

"We hiked off the trail seven miles to get to the staging area, where we met up with other hikers that come in too," Reynolds told WOOD-TV. "There was probably about 80 to 100 hikers all waiting there to be evacuated."
