Statewide ban on visitors at nursing homes extended by Gov. Whitmer

LANSING, Mich. (WOODTV ) — An existing ban on family visitors at nursing homes and senior care facilities has been extended by Gov. Whitmer through Aug. 31.

The existing ban does offer exceptions for persons wishing to see someone in serious or critical condition or receiving hospice care.

The Governor's office announced the extension of her previous order on Thursday night.

Whitmer reminded that the Department of Health and Human Services has discretion to make exceptions to parts of the order.
