Several Cincinnati Reds players spotted kneeling during national anthem

BYMARTY JOHNSON-

As the national anthem played, on Tuesday night before the team's exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers, several Cincinnati Reds players were seen kneeling.

A picture of the scene was tweeted by the ball club, commenting "unity" followed by a heart emoji and "#BlackLivesMatter."

The moment where players began kneeling came after several members of San Francisco Giants, including manager Gabe Kapler, knelt during the anthem before the team's 6-2 exhibition win against the Oakland Athletics.

After a months-long delay, Major League Baseball kicks off its abbreviated 60-game season this week, becoming the latest American sports league to return to action amid the coronavirus pandemic.
