GRPD working with mental & behavioral health pros to solve homeless issues

Due to rising homelessness in Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Police Department are partnering with mental and behavioral professionals to respond to homeless calls.

The city says the new teams will respond to calls about disorderly intoxication, drug overdoses, public urination and mental health crises. That should free up other officers to respond to other types of calls.
