The city charter of Grand Rapids requires that at least 32 percent of the budget goes to the Grand Rapids Police Department each year.
Currently the City spends more than 32 percent of their budget on the GRPD but some city commissioners want to cut back to that percentage.
If rolled back to that 32 percent, the GRPD would have a more then a nine millon dollar budget cut.
