Michigan records 206 new cases of COVID-19 as daily deaths slowly decline

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Health Department officials in Michigan said Thursday the state recorded 25 more deaths linked to coronavirus, half of which were discovered in a check of death certificates to find any that weren’t previously reported.

State officials noted thirteen of the deaths were found in the check. Overall, 5,595 deaths in Michigan have been linked to the virus.

Data released Thursday, showed 206 more cases of the virus were confirmed Wednesday, bringing the totalto 58,241 since the outbreak began in March.

Looking at West Michigan: Ottawa County reported two new deaths for a total of 38. It has had 807 cases, and Kent County recorded two more deaths for a total of 96. Thirty-six more cases were confirmed in the county, bringing the total to 3,851.
