Executive order by Whitmer allows retailers to open by appointment only

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD-TV) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced Thursday in a statewide briefing that retailers and car dealerships in Michigan are allowed to open by appointment only starting Tuesday

During the briefing Thursday morning, Whitmer also announced the lifting of restrictions on some nonessential medical, dental and veterinary procedures statewide, beginning Friday, May 29.

Another significant change to ongoing restrictions includes the ok for social gatherings of up to 10 people, effective immediately. Gatherings of that size are allowed as long as everyone follows social distancing guidelines.

Regarding the current stay-at-home order, Gov. Whitmer said it will likely will be extended beyond May 28.

Whitmer added, “This will not look like business as usual, although it will start to look at little more normal."
