Dems Pelosi, Schumer ask Trump to lower flags when COVID deaths hit 100,000

WASHINGTON — On Thursday The top to congressional Democrats, Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, formally requested that President Donald Trump order flags on public buildings nationwide to fly at half-staff when the U.S.coronavirus death tollreaches 100,000.

Pelosi and Schumer penned a letter to the president noting that Monday is Memorial Day, when the country honors service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The request to lower flags comes at a time when the U.S. death toll for COVID -19 has surpassed 94,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
