State MDHHS reports 659 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, 43 new deaths

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — State of Michigan officials say they recorded 659 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases since the outbreak began in March to 53,009.

New data released Wednesday afternoon showed 43 new deaths linked to the virus for a total of 5,060.

Officials with Kent County reported two more COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total county-wide to 60, and 102 more cases for a total of 3,036.

According to state data most recently available Monday, labs in Michigan tested 14,321 samples for coronavirus and 7.8% came back positive.
