IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) —It's been a summer tradition in Michigan for decades, but this year's Ionia Free Fair will not happen.

Free Fair organizers said Friday that they decided to call off the annual fair, which had been scheduled to run July 16 to July 25 this year. It would have been the 105th event.

Numerous concerns were cited by the fair’s board of directors about coronavirus in their decision to cancel. They said it would be difficult for the event, which draws some 300,000 people each year, to maintain all the health practices necessary to control the spread of coronavirus.
