The bicycle business is booming in GR thanks to the coronavirus pandemic

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Area bicycle shops in West Michigan say business is booming, while many other businesses have been forced to close or are creeping along

Joe Morello, who manages Village Bike and Fitness, off Kalamazoo near 60th Street SE in Kentwood said, “As soon as we opened the doors on April 25, it’s been a madhouse."

Thanks to an executive order Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued on April 24th, bicycle repair and maintenance shops were green-lighted to resume business. Since then, business has shifted into high gear.

The Freewheeler Bike Shop service manager alsoo told News 8 Wednesday that this has been one of the busiest weeks in the shop’s 42-year history.
