COVID-19 Update: Cases In U.S. Up 3.3%; Italy to Start Easing Lockdown

The latest data on Sunday showed total U.S. coronavirus cases rose 3.3%, a mark below the one-week average. In other news related to COVID-19, Italy announced it will ease its lockdown on May 4 after reporting the fewest deaths since mid-March. Fatalities in the U.K. and New York were the lowest in more than three weeks.

In Europe, Spain and France reported the smallest number of fatalities in more than a month as both nations set plans to reopen their economies.

Also announced: Bill Gates has shifted his philanthropy to work on a vaccine.
