Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is expected to extend the Stay Home, Stay Safe order. 

The order is set to expire on April 13, however it may be extended through at least the month of April after lawmakers agreed to extend the state of emergency.

She’s expected to make that announcement at 3pm today.

A forecast model by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, which has been cited by the White House, now predicts the U.S. peak will come sooner and with fewer deaths.

6.6 million more Americans have filed for unemployment last week. The new numbers mean roughly one in 10 workers have lost their jobs in just the past three weeks. 

16.6 million Americans have filed for unemployment aid in the last 3 weeks.

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency has made some changes, including increasing staff and extending its hours, to better serve residents impacted by COVID-19.

GOOD NEWS! 

The mayor of Detroit said the coronavirus is “starting to weaken” in Michigan’s largest city. But Mike Duggan also pleaded with residents to keep the momentum going by wearing masks and avoiding large groups.

The Michigan Health Department announced it is now reporting the number of people who have recovered from the coronavirus. 

According to the state website there are 56 people that have recovered form the virus. 

Recovery is defined by the state as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset

Bernie Sanders has bowed out of the 2020 presidential race, clearing the path for Joe Biden to become the Democratic nominee and face off with Donald Trump in November. Sanders told his staff it was a matter of numbers: After some early primary wins, the Vermont senator fell behind a surging Biden and never quite regained traction. Now that Biden is the last candidate standing, some have urged his party to call off this summer's Democratic conventioni n light of coronavirus dangers.
