Bird blamed for outage on Grand Rapids’ West Side

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Consumers Energy says it appears a bird flew into a power line Monday, knocking out power to more than 1,700 customers in Grand Rapids.

Consumers spokesperson Roger Morgenstern told News 8 that someone called authorities after they saw a turkey fly into a 7,200-volt line at Seward Avenue and Watson Street on Grand Rapids’ West Side.
