The House Judiciary Committee abruptly postponed a vote on articles of impeachmentlast night, shutting down a 14-hour session that dragged with partisanship but had been expected to end with the formal charges being sent to the full House for a vote next week. Approval of the two charges against the president is still expected when the committee reconvenes at 10.

EU leaders are discussing Britain's departure amid some relief that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has a clear majority in Parliament to drive a Brexit divorce deal through.

President Trump has signed off on an initial trade dealthat woulddelay imminent tariffs on Chinese goodsworth billions of dollars and reduce some tariffs already in place. In return, China would pledge to purchase American farm goods. This "phase one" deal has been in the works since October, with both sides haggling over details.Asian markets are showing optimism. Stocks in China, Japan and South Korea jumped on the trade deal news, and US futures were up as well.
