911 call never passed to deputies before father killed

OLIVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The man accused of killing his father called 911 about an hour beforehand asking for help, but none was ever sent.

Kenneth Boone, 25, is charged with murder in the death of his father James Boone, 64.

Authorities confirmed to News 8 on Monday that James Boone was still alive around 6:15 a.m.Dec. 1when his son called 911 requesting assistance. The Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority is looking into why that call was never relayed to deputies.

Kenneth Boone called again around 7:25 a.m. to say he had hurt his father. Deputies responded to their Spring Lake Township home at that point, finding James Boone’s body.

James Boone was beaten to death. Authorities say they found Kenneth Boone carrying the weapon used.
