Plan to dredge Grand River put on hold

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The plan to dredge the Grand River, from downtown Grand Rapids to Grand Haven, has been postponed, the Grand River Waterway Project announced Monday.

The project seeks to allow navigation between Grand Rapids and Grand Haven and would help the economy of communities along the route.

The Grand River Waterway Project (GRWW) started pushing a plan to dredge more than23 miles of riverlast year and claimed it would add $57 million to local economies over 10 years.
