GRPD: Teen struck by a car, expected to be okay

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Police Department says a teen pedestrian was hit by a car that was driven by another teen near Ottawa Hills High School.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. at Burton Street and Philadelphia Avenue when the teen pedestrian was crossing the street but wasn’t within the crosswalk. Police believe the teen was coming from Ottawa Hills.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with scrapes and minor injuries but was released shortly thereafter.

Police say the vehicle left the scene but returned shortly after. The vehicle did not have a valid license plate. No arrests were made at the scene.

Roads were shut down temporarily, but later reopened.
