BIG 3

1 The Justice Dept says 2 guards assigned to watch Jeffrey Epstein when he killed himself in jail have been placed on administrative leave. The dept says in a statement yesterday that the warden at the Metropolitan Correctional Center has also been temporarily reassigned to an office post pending the outcome of two investigations. Both the FBI and the Justice Dept's inspector general are investigating Epstein's death.

2 Sixty-one percent of money raised directly by the Trump campaign this election cycle came from small donors (donations under $200), according to Federal Election Commission figures. That is similar to the proportion Trump raised during the 2016 election cycle, when 65 percent of donations were under $200. And this is dramatically higher than previous Republican nominees. Mitt Romney raised 26 percent of his direct contributions from small donations in 2012, and John McCain raised 25 percent from small donations in 2008. Campaign finance analysts say the data indicates grassroots enthusiasm for Trump's populist message.

3 There won't be any new tariffs on Chinese-made consumer goodsuntil December 15. That means popular items, like toys, cell phones and video game consoles, won't be subject to price hikes possibly caused by the tariffs during the important Christmas shopping season. President Trump, who has used the threat of tariffs as a negotiating tactic, said he made the move to spare consumers pain heading into the holiday season. Wall Street appreciated the move, andstocks surgedalmost 400 points.

Another study lays out why social media could be bad for our kids. This study, published yesterday in the journal The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, says social media use is detrimental to teen girls' mental health because itincreases their exposure to bullyingand keeps them from more beneficial activities, like sleep and exercise. The study interviewed almost 10,000 children between the ages of 13 and 16 in England.

Dogfishing

When someone on a dating app posts photos with an adorable dog…without being the owner of said dog. Think: catfishing, except with other people's pets to get matches. Dating can be really ruff.
