Police: Pedestrian killed after being struck by car

WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Wyoming.

It happened around 10:09 p.m. Friday at 28th Street SW, just west of S. Division Avenue.

Police say it appears the pedestrian was crossing the five-lane road northbound and was not within the crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, according to the Wyoming Department of Public Safety.

Authorities say the pedestrian was a 27-year-old man and his identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation. However, alcohol and speed on the part of the vehicle driver are not suspected, police say.
