Widespread power outages after Saturday storms

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Tens of thousands of Consumers Energy customers in Michigan remainedwithout powerSunday, the day after two rounds of severe thunderstorms swept across the state.

Consumers Energy said that some 220,000 homes and businesses had been affected by outages. By Monday morning, the number of outages was down to about 38,000.

While the Jenison area in Ottawa County washit hardby the storms, the county with the highest number of outages was, by far, Kent County.
