Standoff after Muskegon Heights officer shot in arm

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WOOD) — A standoff lasted for hours as police tried to arrest a suspect in the shooting that wounded a Muskegon Heights officer.

Muskegon Heights Police Chief Joseph Thomas said the officer was shot in the arm while responding to a call at the East Park Manor apartments around 4 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses say they saw a police officer trying to catch a suspect near Dyson Street when the suspect pulled a gun and shot the officer.

Police say the officer’s injuries are not life-threatening.

Officers believe they found the suspect, Thomas said.
