GRPD: Two shot at Big Boy as fireworks let out

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say two people were shot and wounded at a Big Boy in Grand Rapids Saturday night.

It happened around 10:34 p.m. at the restaurant on Pearl Street NW by US-131, not far from the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says officers were in the area keeping an eye on the large crowd gathered for the annual fireworks show when they heard multiple gunshots and responded.

Police say the victims are 17- and 19-year-old males. The 17-year-old’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. The other victim was taken into surgery Saturday night and his condition was not immediately known.
