MDOT not suspending big projects for Memorial Day weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — While the Michigan Department of Transportation is suspending the bulk of their projects for the Memorial Day weekend, they will not be suspending the big projects currently underway in West Michigan.

Here are the major road projects that MDOT will remain in place during the busy holiday travel weekend:

  • Eastbound I-96 in Grand Rapids has a single lane closures and a traffic shift between the East Beltline and Leonard Street.
  • Eastbound and westbound I-96in Ionia County has traffic shifts in place near Cutler Road. Eastbound from Knox Rd to Cutler Road has the left lane closed and westbound from Cutler Road to Okemos Road the left lane is closed. 
  • Eastbound and westbound I-96in Ottawa County will have one lane open in each direction near the M-104 and 112th Avenue interchanges.
