Fifth Third Ballpark to host Tigers opener watch party

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Detroit Tigers fans who can’t make it to the Motor City Thursday can still celebrate the team’s home opener.

The Fifth Third Ballpark, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps, will host a watch party to see the Tigers take on the Kansas City Royals. Doors open for the event at noon and the game starts at 1:10 p.m.

Fans will watch the game on one of the 11 TVs in the Pepsi Stadium Club at the ballpark.

Organizers say parking and entry to the event are free. Fans can buy food and drinks at the party. For $15, people can purchase an all-you-can-eat selection of hot dogs, hamburgers, bratwursts, pizza puffs, Cole's Middles bread bites, potato salad, chips and cookies.

The Tigers’ opener comes just a few days before the Whitecaps opening day at 4 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for the Whitecaps' first home game are available now on the team's website.
