MSP: South Haven woman injured from vehicle jump

GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A South Haven woman was seriously injured when she jumped from a moving vehicle, Michigan State Police say.

Lt. Ryan Schoonveld tells 24 Hour News 8 a "family-related matter" led 27-year-old Emily Murk to jump out of the driver’s side backseat of the vehicle, which was traveling west on 8th Avenue near County Road 687 in Geneva Township, just east of South Haven.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Monday.

Murk was flown to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo with serious injuries. Troopers said Tuesday that her condition is stable.

Schoonveld said Murk voluntarily jumped out of the vehicle. He said at this point, investigators do not believe any criminal charges will be filed in the case.
