Family evacuates home after vehicle fire

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A family evacuated their home after a vehicle fire broke out and spread to the outside of the house early Saturday morning.

Firefighters from the Grandville Fire Department responded to the call just before 3 a.m. and arrived on scene to a residence on Mill Street near Grandville Middle School minutes after, according to Kent County dispatch.

Authorities told 24 Hour News 8 that the fire started in a vehicle parked outside of the family's home and spread to the exterior of the house, causing mild damages.

Everyone inside the house made it out safely and the fire did not cause the family to become displaced.

It is unclear what caused the early-morning fire and remains under investigation by the Grandville Fire Department.
