Person of interest sought in GR death investigation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are asking for the public's help to find a person of interest as they investigate the suspicious deaths of two people in Grand Rapids.

The Grand Rapids Police Department wants to talk to Derrell Demon Brown, 45. He stands around 5-foot-8 and weighs 180 pounds. He goes by a number of aliases, including Darryl Robinson, Carter Brown, Derrick Brown, Michael Richardson, Marcus Wright and Jay.

Michigan State Police records show Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence and two misdemeanor driving offenses in 2005.

The GRPD says he has warrants out for his arrest for incidents unrelated to the suspicious deaths, and he is considered dangerous. If you see him or know where he may be, you're asked to call GRPD at 616.456.3400 orSilent Observerat 616.774.2345.

Police say that about 1 p.m. Wednesday, they got a 911 call from someone inside a home in the 500 block of Sheldon Avenue near Buckley Street SE.

“Officers arrived on scene here and they did find a deceased victim inside the home," GRPD Sgt. Cathy Williams said. "Officers then cleared the home and they found an additional victim inside."

GRPD didn't immediately release any information about the two people's identities or say how either of them died, though police did clarify that natural causes have been ruled out. Autopsies are scheduled.

Police are treating the deaths as suspicious.

“Anytime you have two victims, that’s your first red flag,” Williams said.

Police believe the situation is isolated to the home.
