Car sheered in crash near South Haven; 1 injured

GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person is in a Kalamazoo hospital after a crash sheered off a side of their vehicle.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on County Road 687 near 8th Avenue in Geneva Township, east of South Haven.

South Haven Area Emergency Services says a car was heading south on the county road when it veered off the road, traveling several hundred feet before sideswiping a tree.

SHAES says the impact of the crash peeled off the driver’s side of the vehicle.

SHAES used the Jaws of Life to free the driver from the mangled car. The driver was then taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital.

The Van Buren Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation, according to SHAES.
