BISSELL to expand in Walker, add 100 jobs

WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — BISSELL is looking to expand in West Michigan — a multi-million dollar investment that’s expected to create 100 jobs.

The Right Place announced the expansion plan Wednesday. The economic development group says BISSELL plans to invest $10 million in expanding its headquarters in Walker.

BISSELL began operating in West Michigan in 1876. The family-owned company now locally employs 490 people.

BISSELL said it’s been expanding to keep up with “consistent growth” in global revenues and has simply run out of room at its corporate headquarters. The 25,000-square-foot addition would be used for office space.

BISSELL will get a $500,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for the work. Walker city officials are also considering tax incentives in support of the project.
