'World's shortest' parade not on St. Patrick's Day

CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Changes are coming to an Ottawa County St. Patrick’s Day parade that always fails to make it two city blocks.

The general manager of the Conklin Bar said the “World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade” will not take place on the holiday this year. Conklin Bar is shifting the yearly tradition to Saturday, March 16 as it expands its St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

Conklin Bar plans to host a three-day celebration beginning March 15, complete with live music, prizes, giveaways and food. The parade kicks off at 10:55 a.m. Saturday at the north end of Conklin’s Main Street. Once again, revelers are expected to only make it about 150 yards, stopping for a drink at Conklin Bar.

This is the 31st year of the parade.
