Passerby spots Calhoun Co. crash; 19-year-old killed

NEWTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A crash in Calhoun County has claimed the life of a 19-year-old man.

It happened on H Drive South near 6 Mile Road in Newton Township, about 10 miles south of Battle Creek.

Michigan State Police say someone spotted the crash around 6 a.m. Monday and called authorities.

Troopers determined the vehicle left the road and hit several trees before flipping, coming to rest on its roof.

The driver, whom state police identified as 19-year-old Ty Fuller, died at the scene. Troopers say he lived near where the crash happened.

MSP believe speed played a role in the crash, which is under investigation.
