SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was severly injured in an apparent explosion and fire at a Spring Lake-area mobile home Friday.
The fire broke out shortly before 8 p.m. on Superior Drive in Forest Lake Estates off 148th Avenue in Spring Lake Township.
The man inside the home was able to escape, but was found injured just outside. Spring Lake Fire Department Chief Brian Sipe said he was taken to Hackley Hospital to be treated for severe burns. His condition was not known later Friday.
Crews arrived to find the home fully involved. They doused the flames in about 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities say there was some type of explosion.
The home is a total loss.
