Body of missing snowmobiler recovered from Lincoln Lake

SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities have recovered the body of a snowmobiler who went missing on Lincoln Lake in northeastern Kent County Wednesday night.

A recovery crew found the body of Joseph Brown, 29, Thursday afternoon, not far from where his snowmobile sat on the iced-over lake, Kent County Sheriff’s Sgt. Joel Roon said.

The conditions were challenging for the recovery crew, Roon said. The water was very dark due to snow cover and about 50 to 60 feet deep, which degrades the signal of the sonar equipment used in the recovery effort.
