GR museum free Saturday for Whitmer event

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — West Michigan residents can meet the state's new governor Saturday as they enjoy the Grand Rapids Public Museum for free.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist are hosting the "Whitmer Winter Warm-up" at the museum off Pearl Street NW at Front Avenue.

The event also includes a book drive benefiting a local charity, and every child who attends will go home with a book.

The museum will be free all day, but Whitmer and Gilchrist will only be on hand from noon to 2 p.m. Attendees are asked to RVSP online
