Olga's Kitchen founder Olga Loizon dead at 92

The founder of Olga's Kitchen has died.

Detroit native Olga Loizon passed away Monday at the age of 92.

Loizon was born to Greek immigrant parents and created the concept for her restaurant after taking a trip to Greece.  She opened the first Olga's Kitchen in Birmingham, Michigan in 1970, and sold her concept to private investors six years later.  The restaurant was later bought by Michigan-based TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants in 2015.

Plans for a private funeral have yet to be planned.  Condolences from the public can be made to the Olga's Kitchen Facebook page, in person at any Olga's Kitchen restaurant, or sent to TSFR headquarters at 17800 Laurel Park Drive North, Ste. 200C, Livonia, MI 48152.

In lieu of flowers, Loizon's family is asking that checks be sent to the Olga Loizon Memorial Fund.
