7 rescued from Grand Rapids apt. fire

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Seven people were pulled from a burning Grand Rapids apartment early Sunday, two were hospitalized with minor injuries. 

Authorities say twelve apartments were damaged after the fire broke out at 1:47 a.m. at The Preserve at Woodland Apartments at 2351 Valleywood Drive SE near The Woodland Mall in Grand Rapids .

Crews on scene were not immediately able to determine where the fire started but would say the fire quickly spread to the second and third floor of the building, 20 people were inside and seven were trapped on their balconies before crews were able to rescue them.
