Mom: 'Overwhelming' support for drive in honor of Rory

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A family is turning their loss into a drive to support other children fighting cancer at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

The group behind Rory’s Journey: The Battle Against Childhood Cancer collected thousands of diapers since Thanksgiving. They dropped off the donations Wednesday.

The program all started with a little girl name Rory. In January 2017, she collapsed on a playground. Shortly after, doctors found a cancerous tumor on her heart.

Rory slipped into a coma and died within two months.
