A donation drive run by our sister station 104.5 WSNX is being regarded as a big success.
This year the station collected enough toy donations to fill a little over three buses with toys during it's 2nd annual Stuff-A-Bus toy drive. The station's goal was to fill two buses with toys to give to kids who would likely otherwise go without this holiday season.
"The amount of businesses that stopped out, the amount of people in the community that stopped out, it was just overwhelming," said Mike Aguilar, 104.5 WSNX Assistant Program Director and Mojo in the Morning co-host.
Hosts from the station lived on a Dean Transportation school bus in the parking lot of the Biggby Coffee location on Cottonwood Drive in Jenison, broadcasting around the clock while the toy drive got underway from December 10th through the 14th.
Residents could also donate toys at 36 other Biggby Coffee locations throughout the donation drive.
"We're just incredibly proud of what has happened in the last week. We're proud of West Michigan, but we're also proud to be partnering with great partners like Meijer, Biggby Coffee, and the Salvation Army," Aguilar said.
So far, there hasn't been any word on how many toys were collected. The Salvation Army will now divvy up the toys and hand them out to children in need.
