Grand Menorah lit to mark start of Hanukkah

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Faithful gathered at Grand Rapids' Calder Plaza Sunday afternoon to light a giant menorah and mark the beginning of Hanukkah.

One person at the ceremony said the menorah is the most enduring symbol of the Jewish faith. Mayor Rosalynn Bliss added that it serves as a reminder to drive away the darkness with light.

The event featured music and food, and was followed by Temple Emanuel's Chanukah concert.
