Crashes, slide-offs amid snowy weather

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Some of the first snowy weather of the season led to slide-offs and crashes in West Michigan Thursday, including one that killed a woman in rural Allegan County and another that damaged a police cruiser.

The woman in her 70s was killed when she lost control of her car on snowy roads in Wayland Township and collided with another vehicle. Her name was not released Thursday night.

Separately, the cruiser from the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office was hit while a deputy was stopped to investigate a crash. The deputy was taken to the hospital to be checked out as a precaution.
