The five deadliest serial killers in the U.S.

(WOOD) — While preparing an investigation on a serial killer believed to have killed two men in Grand Rapids in the 1980s, Target 8 researched the nation's most prolific serial killers.

Below is a list of the five men who may have killed the most people in the United States. All are believed to have killed more people than investigators were able to prove.

1: Gary Ridgway

Known as the Green River Killer, Ridgway murdered dozens of people in the Seattle area in the 1980s and 1990s. There are 49 proven victims, but Ridgway may have killed as many as 90. He is currently serving a life term in prison without the possibility of parole.
