MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — The Drug Enforcement Administration wants people to get rid of old medications in a safe way for National Drug Take Back Day.
The Muskegon Area Medication Disposal Program (MAMDP) is one of several programs around West Michigan taking part.
In its eight years, the program has collected 16 tons of medications and average 2,000 pounds per event.
"There is possibility of theft, there is possibility of overdosing and so it's just really important to take them to a place that's part of the event," MAMDP program chair Carrie Uthe told 24 hour News 8.
