Man indicted on bank robbery charges

A man accused of robbing two West Michigan banks has been indicted on federal charges.

Daniel Richard Lee is charged with two counts of armed bank robbery for two incidents at banks in Battle Creek and Oshtemo Township.

Authorities say Lee took approximately $2,869 by force and violence from a Battle Creek Comerica Bank and took about $9,790 from an Oshtemo Township Chemical Bank four days later.

Court documents allege Lee entered the Comerica Bank on July 27 and pointed a black handgun at a teller while demanding cash before fleeing on foot.

Authorities allege Lee entered the Chemical bank on July 31 brandishing a handgun and again demanded money before fleeing on foot.

Authorities had been searching for Lee for violating his parole before charges were filed against him. He was taken into custody on Aug. 29 in Daytona, Ohio.
