GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Trinity Lindsey was born 10 weeks premature, addicted to cocaine. She spent the first 28 days of life in the neonatal intensive care unit with 6 or 7 specialists keeping her alive.
Now, she's 7 years old and in first grade, but not without some struggles. The addiction led to behavioral issues requiring occupational and speech therapy.
"We have caregivers coming in. There's a lot of work behind this little girl, but worth every bit of it," her grandmother Lorrie Lindsey said with a smile.
She has taken care of Trinity from the day she was born, as Trinity's mother remains incarcerated.
