Driver charged with misdemeanor in deadly US-31 crash

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) —  A semi-truck driver accused of causing the July 4 crash that killed an Ottawa County woman is facing a misdemeanor charge.

The Holland Sentinel reports 56-year-old Rhonda Vandermyde of Hamilton is charged with a moving violation causing death in connection to the Olive Township crash that killed 60-year-old Ruth Bull. Vandermyde pleaded not guilty to the charge last month, according to the Sentinel.

The paper says the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office hasn’t responded to its requests for comment as to why Vandermyde is charged with a misdemeanor, not a felony, in the crash on US-31 at Port Sheldon Street.
