ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The first official tribute to Rich DeVos began Monday at Amway’s Headquarters in Ada Township – where he and Jay Van Andel started the Amway empire.
The invitation-only event was for long-time employees and wasn't open to the public. Remarks were expected from Amway Chairman Steve Van Andel, as well as other company executives.

Monday’s event was just the first of several ceremonies leading up to DeVos' funeral on Thursday.
On Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be a public visitation at the Amway Grand Plaza’s hotel ballroom.
On Thursday, the public is invited to view a simulcast of DeVos' private service at DeVos Performance Hall from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
DeVos died on Sept. 6 due to complications from an infection. He was 92.
