Officers search for 'armed and dangerous' shooting suspect

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are searching for the man they say shot someone in Ottawa County Friday night.

The Holland Department of Public Safety says it has issued an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Joseph Garrett McDaye, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Officers say on September 7, 2018 officers responded to 287 West 40th Street Harbor Village Apartments near Washington Avenue, after receiving a phone call from Holland Hospital regarding a 53-year-old Holland resident that was shot in the leg.

Authorities say an earlier altercation had occurred at 8:00 p.m., which led to McDaye firing multiple shots into a vehicle as it entered the apartment complex parking lot at approximately 8:50 p.m.

One of the shots struck the victim in the leg, resulting in a non-life threatening injury.

Officers describe McDaye as a 5-foot-10 black man with medium build.

McDaye was last seen driving a gray, 2010 model Buick Lacrosse four door with Michigan license plates.
