Judge: Prosecution to remain on Dumbuya murder case

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A judge has ordered that the man accused of killing an East Kentwood student will not get a new prosecutor for his case.

Quinn James is charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of 16-year-old Mujey Dumbuya, whom he was previously charged with sexually assaulting.

In June, James’ lawyer filed a motion to remove the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office from the case, saying there is a conflict of interest that would prevent him from having a fair trial.
