Search for wanted man leads officers onto Thornapple River

IRVING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Barry County man who allegedly tried to evade officers on Thornapple River is now facing charges.

Evan Fain, 28, remained in jail Thursday on two counts of resisting and obstructing police, in addition to six previous traffic and child support offenses he was wanted on.

The Barry County Sheriff’s Office says on Sunday afternoon, a group of people tubing down the Thornapple River reported a domestic violence incident involving Fain and another person, who were with their group.

The tubers told authorities Fain left when they reached Irving Dam because he knew police were on their way to question him, and he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
